Of controversial origin since it is assigned a late-Roman invoice, we must believe that its current silhouette is purely Romanesque. Allariz, it is true, was on a Roman secondary road that, starting from the Aquae Originae road, drifted in the Gemina mansion towards the N through Allariz, San Cibrao das Viñas and Ourense to reach Lugo (Lucus Augusti). Obviously, it would have a Roman bridge, either wooden or factory, which would suffer various damages and ruins. Later, it was also the way of Visigoths and Muslims. It was also the Portuguese Camino de Santiago.

De origen controvertido pues se le asigna factura tardo-romana, debemos creer que su silueta actual es puramente románica. Allariz, es cierto, se encontraba en una vía secundaria romana que partiendo de la calzada de Aquae Originae derivaba en la mansio de Gemina hacia el N por Allariz, San Cibrao das Viñas y Ourense para alcanzar Lugo (Lucus Augusti). Evidentemente, tendría un puente romano, bien de madera o de fábrica que sufriría variados desperfectos y ruinas. Más adelante, también fue camino de visigodos y musulmanes. También era Camino de Santiago portugués.
