William Dietert immigrated from Germany and set up a grist and saw mill in Boerne, TX. He went on to organize Kendall County and became the Kendall County Judge from 1866 to 1883. His son and grandson continued successful businesses.

On the NNE corner of the Kendall County Courthouse Square at 201 E. San Antonio Avenue, Boerne, TX 78006, is a citizen memorial marker inlaid in the sidewalk beside the Kendall County Courthouse sign and E. San Antonio Avenue. The memorial marker for William Dietert is made of two pink granite plaques set within the sidewalk. The top plaque shares space with a logo advertising Kendall County EMS Walk for Life on the upper half of the marker. The bottom half begins the tribute of William Dietert and continues it s text onto the whole of the second, lower plaque of the same size as the upper one. The text related to the citizen commemoration for William Dietert reads as follows:

It appears that the bunisess and political success William Dietert demonstrated was taught to his son and grandson. William;s youngest son, Ernst, successfully continued ranching and Ernst's son, Clarence E. Dietert (William's grandson) was very well educated and successful in business and politics in and around Boerne and Real County.
