This is the second courthouse for Rawlins County. The first was a two-story structure built in 1881. This Romanesque Revival courthouse was completed in 1907. The building faces south and is a two story dark red colored brick, stone and concrete structure, with a central square red colored brick tower rising above the south entrance. The south front has steps up to a stone trimmed entrance, and there is stone trim at the building corners and at the base. There is an NGS benchmark disk on the southwest corner of the courthouse, and a veterans memorial near the entrance.
