"The Bebra–Baunatal-Guntershausen railway is a two-track, electrified main line in the German state of Hesse, connecting Kassel with Bebra [...]. It was originally part of the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Nordbahn ('Frederick William Northern Railway'), which was completed in 1849. It was one of the first railway lines in the Electorate of Hesse and in Germany." (Wikipedia: Bebra–Baunatal-Guntershausen railway)
The track section Bebra–Malsfeld–Guxhagen was opened on August, 29th 1848. Since then, the Altmorschen station is in service. The brick-built structure with a tower has been designed by Julius Eugen Ruhl.
On March, 31st 1988, the ticket desk closed forever and the sidings were cut off. Nowadays, Altmorschen is only a stop for the Cantus trains.
