Heritage Park is where the citizens of Junction City, KS honor their war veterans. Lots of really nicely done memorials commemorating the fallen veterans from the Civil War through the Afghanistan wars. Also a Police memorial and several dedicated trees to individual veterans.

One of the dedicated trees is The Freedom Tree that was planted as a living memorial to those US veterans who fought in Southeast Asia. The dedication is not only for those who died, but for all veterans who fought, those who were prisoners of war and those who were missing in action. The dedication plaque is on a small concrete block with a sloped face on which is attached a weathered bronze plaque. The inscription of the plaque reads as follows:

"The Freedom Tree
with vision of universal freedom for all mankind
this tree is dedicated to
all of those who served
in Southeast Asia
and all
Prisoners of War
and Missing in Action
1974"
Location of the tree: Heritage Park, 101 W 6th Street, Junction City, KS 66441

Type of tree: Not listed
