FASZINIERENDE ILLUSION – Einen beeindruckenden Blickfang bietet der riesiengroße schwebende Wasserhahn vor dem Verwaltungsgebäude der Gas- und Wasserwerke Grevenbroich. Zuverlässig wie die Wasserwerke sprudelt er jederzeit ganz viel Wasser in den darunter liegenden Brunnen. Und das, obwohl der Wasserhahn gar keinen Zulauf besitzen zu scheint?! Das Prinzip beruht auf einer optischen Täuschung, mittels derer sowohl der Pumpmechanismus für das Wasser, sowie das transparente Rohr zur Stabilisierung der Anlage unsichtbar gemacht wird. Das Wasser fließt und fällt an den Außenseiten des Rohres wieder herunter, wobei sich das Rohr mit der Wasserzuführung im “Wasserfall” nicht abbildet. So entsteht der Eindruck, das Wasser komme aus dem Nichts.

The principle is based on an optical illusion by means of which both the pumping mechanism for the water and the transparent pipe for stabilizing the system are made invisible. The water flows and falls back down on the outside of the pipe, whereby the pipe with the water supply does not form in the “waterfall”. This creates the impression that the water comes out of nowhere.
