A plaque in memory of Thomas Edgar Quayle can be found on a stone wall on Main Road in Kirk Michael.

The plaque records that lifelong resident Thomas donated the land in front of the wall for the construction of a footpath.

The inscription on the plaque is as follows:

'THIS PLAQUE ERECTED BY
THE MICHAEL VILLAGE COMMISSIONERS
ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF MICHAEL
APRIL 1987
TO COMMEMORATE
THOMAS EDGAR QUAYLE
A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF MICHAEL
WHO DONATED LAND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF THIS FOOTPATH.'

Denise Dadson on Ancestry.co.uk records that Thomas Edgar was born c1920. He was the son of Thomas Willian Quayle and Mary Ann Quayle nee Edgar. (visit link)

Denise also suggests that Thomas' father owned the Grocers Shop in the village T. W. Quayle.

The construction of the footpath dramatically increased the safety of the residents of the village walking along the busy Main Road (A3).
Location: Public Footpath
