In 2018, it was the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia’s establishment. On this anniversary more than 2500 trees were planted on four continents. These trees are registered on the webpage of the Trees of Liberty project (

There are many countries that have a national tree. In the Czech Republic the national tree is linden (Tilia). It can be found on the flag of the president, the official seal, army uniforms and bank notes. Linden is a symbol of protection, help, and love for its smell, graceful treetop, and comfortable shadow, People used to believe that linden could chase away evil spirits and that its energy could get rid people of their dismal thoughts. In mythology linden was dedicated to the goddess of love, and in Christianity it was usually identified with Virgin Mary (people used to hang pictures of Virgin Mary on linden trees).
Protected trees are also being called trees of the republic, because they remind people of the freedom and democracy of the Czech and Slovak nations. Most of the plating took place in October 1919 on the Republic’s 1st anniversary, then on the 10th anniversary in 1928, and also on the 50th anniversary in 1968. Other trees were planted mainly on jubilees.
This tree was planted a fifty/hundred years ago to celebrate the proclamation of a new country Czechoslovakia.
Today, this tree is registered as a memorial tree - the three of the republic.

Rada zemí má své národní stromy. V Ceské republice je národním stromem lípa (Tilia). Mužeme ji nalézt na standarte prezidenta, státní peceti, vojenských uniformách a bankovkách. Lípa je symbolem ochrany, pomoci a lásky pro svou vuni, puvabnou korunu a príjemný stín. Lidé verili, že dokáže odehnat zlé duchy a svou energií zbaví cloveka chmurných myšlenek. V mytologii byla lípa zasvecena bohyni lásky, v krestanství byla casto spojována s Pannou Marií (na lípy lidé zavešovali obrázky Panny Marie).
Pametní stromy jsou taky casto nazývány stromy republiky - pripomínají svobodu ceského a slovenského národu a demokracii. Nejvíce výsadeb stromu probehlo v ríjnu 1919 k prvnímu výrocí vzniku republiky, k 10. výrocí CSR v roce 1928 a rovnež k 50. výrocí CSR v roce 1968. Další stromy byly vysazeny zejména pri kulatých výrocích.
