The stag beetle carving has been created by Andy Burgess a professional Chainsaw Wood Sculptor.

"The 7 foot high Stag Beetle was carved from a large Cedar Trunk at Trentham Gardens. Lots of intricate detailing and burning with a blow torch. Due to its scale, it was possible to complete the majority of the work with just chainsaws." SOURCE: (visit link)
