The sign says, "In 1888, Southern Pacific Railroad built the Santa Ana Branch south of Anaheim, which continued south across the Santiago Creek and through the eastern part of Orange to Tustin. The line ended in Tustin and was named the Tustin Branch. The branch served the local citrus and agriculture industry along the railroad track. In the mid-1950's, the "quick-decline" disease, which decimated orange groves, and rising land values induced the orchard owners to sell their land to builders and developers. Tustin Branch was abandoned in 1969 when floods damaged the bridge over Santiago Creek."
