Sinds 2017 is de achttiende-eeuwse stadspomp weer terug in de vesting Woudrichem. In dat jaar werd de monumentale hardstenen pomp, een beschermd rijksmonument, geheel gedemonteerd. Dat de pomp in een slechte staat verkeerde was bekend, maar hij bleek er veel slechter aan toe te zijn dan gedacht.
Na de restauratie werd de pomp teruggeplaatst op een geheel andere plaats dan waar hij aanvankelijk op de Hoogstraat stond. Zijn nieuwe plaats is vooraan links op de Hoogstraat. Voor deze nieuwe plek is gekozen met als doel een verbetering van de doorstroming van het verkeer te bereiken.
Er zijn zodanige voorzieningen getroffen dat het mogelijk is dat de pomp zijn oorspronkelijke functie, het geven van water, terug krijgt. Het is niet voor de eerste keer dat de pomp verplaatst wordt. Op oude ansichtkaarten is te zien dan hij oorspronkelijk veel verderop in de Hoogstraat stond dan waar hij voor kort stond.

Since 2017, the eighteenth-century city pump has been back in the fortress of Woudrichem. In that year, the monumental bluestone pump, a protected national monument, was completely dismantled. It was known that the pump was in a bad condition, but it turned out to be much worse than expected.
After the restoration, the pump was placed back in a completely different place from where it originally stood on Hoogstraat. His new place is at the front left on the Hoogstraat. This new location was chosen with the aim of improving the flow of traffic.
Provisions have been made to allow the pump to regain its original function of providing water. It is not the first time that the pump has been moved. Old postcards show that he was originally much further up the Hoogstraat than where he stood before.
