Located just off of County Road 769 southwest of Arcadia, Florida is SW Jernigan Street. This road runs west of CR 769 and then runs south. Shortly after turning south on the east side of the road is a cow pasture with 4 graves located in a barbed wire fenced off area.

According to the Find A Grave site the first person buried here was Bessie Eula Jernigan, who was born on September 14th, 1901 and died 2 months later on November 24th, 1901. Her headstone lies broken, possibly to cattle rubbing on it. The next grave is of William Jernigan born January 16, 1850 and died February 26, 1914. His gravestone is a taller white marble marker that can be seen easily from the road. William Jernigan was an early pioneer of the Desoto County area.

The next gravestone is of Donald Alvin Clark, born October 28, 1924 and died November 25, 1981. He was married to Mary Louise Jernigan. Mary Louise (Jernigan) Clark born April 20, 1927 and died January 2, 2019 is the most recent internment and does not have a gravestone marker as of this posting.

Due to the headstones facing east and due to the barb wire fencing please be respectful and only take photos from the road and not trespass.
