Saint John of Nepomuk (or John Nepomucene) [Czech: Jan Nepomucký; German: Johannes Nepomuk; Latin: Ioannes (or Ioannis) Nepomucenus (c. 1345 – March 20, 1393) is the saint of Bohemia (Czech Republic), who was drowned in the Vltava river at the behest of Wenceslaus, King of the Romans and King of Bohemia. Later accounts state that he was the confessor of the queen of Bohemia and he refused to divulge the secrets of the confessional. On the basis of this account, John of Nepomuk is considered the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional, a patron against calumnies and, because of the manner of his death, a protector from floods and drowning.

Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého stojí v severozápadní cásti obce Svijany, nad zámeckým areálem, na križovatce cest. Socha je obrácena smerem k zámku. Na pískovcovém stupni spocívá mohutný obdélný kamenným sokl zakoncený ustupující profilovanou rímsou; na podstavci drík i ten zakoncen mohutnou, profilovanou rímsou. Na ní je jednoduchý podstavec, konvexne vykrojený, na kterém stojí socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého. Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého asi v životní velikosti, u jeho pravé nohy kameny, o které má oprené koleno. Socha lehce esovite prohnutá, hlava mírne naklonena k pravému rameni - v levé ruce drží biret , pravou ruku si lehce pridržuje na prsou. Plášt tvorí bohate narasená drapérie. Kolem hlavy sv. J. Nepomuckého je svatozár, na kovové obruci petice pozlacených hvezd. Na soklu - na hlavní strane nápisová deska, na ostatních stranách jednoduchá predsazená zrcadla pokryta malovanými kvítky.
