L’immeuble de l’Église unie à Aylmer a subi quelques transformations depuis sa construction il y a 162 ans.

Le lieu de culte a été bâti en 1858 sans tour de clocher, puis a subi des rénovations et un agrandissement en 1912. C’est lors de ces travaux que la tour a été ajoutée. Un feu a ravagé l’église en 1959. L’immeuble a été reconstruit dans les mois qui ont suivi l’incendie.

La photo en noir et blanc nous présente l’église en 1920 tandis que l’image couleur nous la montre en 2020, cent ans plus tard. On peut noter que le toit en triangle de la tour du clocher n’a pas été rebâti tandis que la façade d’aujourd’hui comprend une grande fenêtre à arc brisé au lieu de trois étroites fenêtres.

L’église est sise sur la rue Principale, dans le site patrimonial d’Aylmer.

L’église peut accueillir 200 fidèles lors des messes.

The United Church building in Aylmer has undergone some alterations since it was built 162 years ago.

The place of worship was built in 1858 without a bell tower, then underwent renovations and an extension in 1912. It was during this work that the tower was added. The church was destroyed by fire in 1959. The building was rebuilt in the months following the fire.

The black and white photo shows us the church in 1920 while the color image shows it in 2020, a hundred years later. It can be noted that the triangular roof of the bell tower has not been rebuilt while the facade today includes a large pointed arch window instead of three narrow windows.

The church is located on Principale Street, in the Aylmer heritage site.

The church can accommodate 200 faithful during Masses.
