The 7m high Mundoo Lighthouse, also known as the Pt Malcolm Lighthouse, was built in 1878 to mark the passage between Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert for paddle steamers traveling between Goolwa and Meningie. The light was turned off in September 1981 and replaced with an automtic 'light on a pole'
Apart from being the only inland lighthouse in Australia it is also the smallest.
