Brooksville, a small town southwest of Tecumseh, was one of Oklahoma's historic all-black communities. Never large, the local economy was devastated by the double blow of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression and many moved away at that time; the town has fewer than one hundred occupants today. This cemetery has many old, unreadable grave markers, and is still in active use. There is no sign at the cemetery gate.
