There was first on this place a Saint Saturnin chapel built by a lord of the place in gratitude for having returned safe and sound from the first crusade. After the Hundred Years War, the village was built around the chapel. Having become narrow, the chapel will be replaced by a Romanesque church. But this one will undergo the assaults of the Protestants and will be almost entirely destroyed, from the beginning of the wars of religion. There is no more Catholic worship in Vallon between 1560 and 1621. Between 1862 and 1866, the current church will be built, partly on the foundations of the early Romanesque church.

Il y eut d'abord sur ce lieu une chapelle Saint Saturnin construite par un seigneur des lieux en remerciement d'être revenu sain et sauf de la première croisade. Après la guerre de cent ans, le village se construit autour de la chapelle. Devenue étroite, la chapelle sera remplacée par une église romane. Mais celle-ci va subir les assauts des protestants et sera presque entièrement détruite, dès le début des guerres de religion. Il n'y a plus de culte catholique à Vallon entre 1560 et 1621. Entre 1862 et 1866, l'église actuelle sera édifiée, en partie sur les fondations de l'église romane primitive.
