"We are Methodists in Barwick in Elmet, whose mission, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is to worship God and follow both the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. We seek to do this by giving love and practical care to each other and those we meet in our daily lives.
We consider ourselves to be a very welcoming Church with around 40 members providing a traditional style of worship. During the year we enjoy united services with our friends at Scholes Methodist Church and the Anglicans in Barwick.
Charity coffee mornings are held during the year to raise money for the benefit of local charities and we also hold social events.
Barwick Methodist Church (formerly known as the William Dawson Memorial Chapel) was opened in April 1900. It occupies a commanding position in the village, situated between the famous maypole and Hall Tower Hill. The building consists of the Church together with an adjacent Schoolroom, which is used by different groups of people. These groups include Choirs, Lunch Clubs, Children's Parties, Social evenings and recently a Children's Nursery."
