The grave marker for Mary Hester Herren here in Estil Cemetery in Gate City, Virginia is adorned with a dove of peace with an olive branch in it's beak flying south or left facing the grave marker.
This dove of peace was hand carved and it's wings are small and it almost appears as a humming bird. The olive branch has no olive. It is a very fine headstone with a matching marble base from 1876.

Died Nov. 8, 1876 AGED 3 y's 5 mo's & 21 d's

Her grave marker is made of white marble and approximately two and a half feet tall by one and a half foot wide and four inches thick. It has a matching base that it fits in, a style from the period.

Her marker was recently cleaned and reset by local resident and cemetery caretaker Tim Pendergraft.
