The Hill and Sons Grand Organ was built in 1877 for the Adelaide Town Hall, when replaced by a new organ in 1989 the organ was placed in storage with an uncertain fate.
The Organ Historical Trust of Australia expressed an interest in the organ, they were given possession of the organ on the condition that it was restored and rehoused in South Australia. A site was found in the Tanunda Soldiers Memorial Hall and after 15 years of extensive restoration it can be heard every Wednesday morning along with a tour of the inner workings and a short talk on it's history.
The restoration represents the most accurate and extensive of any 19th Century English concert organ anywhere in the world
