DE: Die aus dem Stein gemeißelte Drachenstatue befindet sich am Leoardo-da-Vinci Gymnasium direkt links neben dem Eingang zum Kölner Planetarium in der Bülowstraße. Sie sitzt in etwa zwei Metern Höhe auf einem kleinen Podest und ist selbst etwa 60cm hoch. Das Gestein, aus dem der Drache geformt wurde, passt sich farblich an den für den Bau der Schule verwendeten Stein an. Der ungeflügelte Drache kauert kompakt in seiner Ecke und hat die Schnauze nach oben gerichtet.
Drachen gelten als schlangenartige Mischwesen der Mythologie und basieren in vielen Formen aus einer Mischung von Reptilien, Vögeln und Raubtieren. In vielen Kulturen der Welt ist das Fabelwesen Drache als Schreckensbild oder als Herrschaftssymbol schon seit der Antike angesehen.

EN: The dragon statue carved out of the stone is located at the Leoardo-da-Vinci Gymnasium, directly to the left of the entrance to the Cologne Planetarium in Bülowstraße. It sits about two meters high on a small platform and is about 60cm high. The stone from which the dragon was formed matches the color of the stone used to build the school. The wingless dragon crouches compactly in its corner with its snout turned up.
