Built in 949 as the first cable car in Berchtesgaden and commissioned in 1950 and unique in its design in Germany (two-cable two-group commuter cable car), you float high above Berchtesgaden with it.
The Obersalzbergbahn opens up an excellent, 50 km long network of paths at an altitude of 1000m, which connects the sights, unmistakable refreshment stops and a wide range of leisure activities with an incomparable panorama. From spring to autumn, the Carl von Linde Weg invites you to go hiking and connects the mountain station of the Obersalzbergbahn and the middle station of the Jennerbahn, which can be reached in about 1.5 hours. Well-known inns such as the Sonneck, the Hochlenzer with its summer toboggan run, the Graflhöhe (windbag baron), the Scharitzkehlalm and the Alpengasthof Vorderbrand invite you to linger. The documentation center, the departure point for the Kehlsteinhaus and the eagle enclosure can also be reached in a few minutes.
In winter, the Obersalzbergbahn takes you to the longest and most impressive natural toboggan run in Berchtesgaden with a length of 4 km.
