The Royal Malta Artillery (RMA) was a regular artillery unit of the British Army prior to Malta's independence. It was formed in 1889 and during WW II the RMA is known to have had the following units on its ORBAT:
1 Coast Regiment RMA
2 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RMA
3 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RMA
5 Coast Regiment RMA
11 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RMA (Territorial)
14 Heavy Anti-Aircraft (Relief) Battery RMA
8 Searchlight Battery RMA (part of the mixed British-Maltese 4 Searchlight Regiment RA)
This monument honours the man of the Royal Malta Artillery (RMA) who died in World War II. It is located in a small park in Floriana, close to the eye-catching War Memorial (Maltese: Monument tal-Gwerra).
The incription on the front reads:
1939 - 1945
TO THE GLORY OF GOD
AND IN MEMORY OF
ALL RANKS
ROYAL MALTA ARTILLERY
WHO DIED IN WORLD WAR II
On the right and left side of the monument are the names of the fallen. On the back are the names of the regiments and the date of erection of the monument.
