An eternal flame exists behind he Putnam County Veterans Memorial on the Putnam County Courthouse lawn in Cookeville, TN.

The Putnam County Veterans Organization asked the Putnam County Commission in a letter dated May 8, 2007 to approve the addition of an eternal flame light behind the county veterans memorial on the courthouse lawn. If approved the plan was to complete the installation in order for a lighting ceremony on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007. The commission approved the request in a scheduled meeting on May 21, 2007.
