This used to be a heavily industrial location. First occupied by the Export Dock of the East India Docks, and when that was filled in by the Brunswick Wharf Power Station. The site was cleared and, amongst other things, three residential tower blocks built. The tallest of the three blocks is Elektron Tower 1 and in 2008 this tower was adorned with a line to mark the Meridian.
The line begins as a metallic strip, buffered on either side by four courses of bricks, across the pavement in front of the south face of the tower. The line then continues up the full height of the twenty-five storey building and onward down the north side as well. I have no information as to whether the Meridian marking continues across the roof. The line on the building itself is formed of two metallic strips with a blue coloured (possibly plastic) strip between - the whole about three or four inches across.
Expert opinion seems to be that the line is not entirely accurate, perhaps a few metres too far to the west.
