The A Boutureira recreational area in the municipality of San Cibrao das Viñas woke up this Sunday with significant material damage. The vandals smashed, presumably overnight on Saturday, stone tables and benches, as well as information panels on the hiking trails. In the area there are also reconstructed mills, whose doors were forced.

The mayor of San Cibrao, Manuel Pedro Fernández, assures that this is not the first time that A Boutureira has been attacked. "In February of last year there was destruction in the area," he explains. For the moment, the municipal government has not assessed the material damage but, in view of the appearance of the furniture, "it was substantial." "It is a shame that he does this type of vandalism against or property of all," says the municipal councilor, who anticipates that the Council will carry out some type of action to prevent future attacks.

And the stones?

In the city, vandalism has also manifested itself on the stone stairs that go up from Calle San Francisco to Emilia Pardo Bazán. Four stones are missing in the upper area - one of them can be seen in the undergrowth. "The Casco Viejo area is constantly attacked. The stairs don't have much explanation, unless they are taken home," explains a neighbor on Avenida de Buenos Aires. "The City Council should take care of maintaining urban furniture, and also cleaning up the green areas, because down there there is garbage of all kinds," he adds.

Neighbors in the area say that the wall of the staircase on Calle San Francisco has been missing stones for months. At the end of August, there were three holes, to which now a fourth has been added. The area was also the scene of vandalism last April, when a container landed on the Carmelitas.
