Cette statue de la Vierge Marie est située devant l'Église Notre-Dame-du Rosaire.

Cette église catholique romaine se trouve sur la rue du Rosaire dans l'arrondissement Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension de la ville de Montréal. La paroisse a été érigée canoniquement le 18 septembre 1905 par Mgr Paul Bruchési, archevêque de Montréal. La construction de l'église a débutée en 1928 et s'est terminée en 1930.

Dans la religion chrétienne, Marie, fille juive de Judée, est la mère de Jésus de Nazareth. Suite à la mort et la résurrection de ce dernier, ses disciples le reconnaissent comme le Messie ou le Christ et transmettent son histoire et ses enseignements, ce qui donne naissance au christianisme. Dans les Églises catholique et orthodoxe, Marie est l'objet d'un culte particulier, supérieur au simple culte rendu aux saints et aux anges, appelé le culte d'hyperdulie.

À la différence des saints représentés dans l’art depuis des siècles avec une auréole, la Vierge Marie est très souvent représentée le front ceint d’une couronne, telle une reine.

This Roman Catholic church is located on du Rosaire Street in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough of the city of Montreal. The parish was canonically erected on September 18, 1905 by Mgr Paul Bruchési, Archbishop of Montreal. Construction of the church began in 1928 and ended in 1930.
