The USS Chicopee (AO-34) was the first of its class of oilers for the United States Navy during World War II. It was built in 1941 and acquired by the Navy in 1942. It and served in the Atlantic theater of war. (

A mural depicting this ship was painted by Jonh Miranda in September 2020. The mural is based on picture of the USS Chicopee taken off the coast of Morocco June 2, 1944. The USS Chicopee is shown in left profile while at sea. It's identified by the number 34 on the bow. Below the ship is the inscription U.S.S. CHICOPEE.
The mural is part of a program to revitalize the city and coincide with a long-term planning project called Envision Our Chicopee 2040.
