Plaque Text:
This obelisk is a replica of the original obelisk that stood in the middle of the intersection of Avenue A and Third Street in Farwell in the 1920s and 1930s. The original obelisk was part of the Ozark Trail System and was removed about 1940 when Avenue A, then a dirt road, became a highway and was widened to four lanes. The new Farwell obelisk was constructed by Steve Meeks, with wording provided by Robin Gregory, and was paid for by contributions from the citizens of the community. 2010
