Die im letzten Jahr neu errichtete und über die Wintermonate geschlossene Bergzeitfahrstrecke „Pic Royal“ ist ab sofort wieder permanent befahrbar. Radfahrer, E-Biker, Läufer oder Inlineskater können nun erneut mit der elektronischen Zeitnahme ihre gefahrenen Zeiten messen und diese in der jeweiligen Bestenliste unter www.stoppomat.de mit anderen Teilnehmern vergleichen.
Der verkehrsarme Anstieg mit Start im Mayener Stadtteil Nitztal führt hinauf nach Kirchwald und ist rund 2,5 km lang und überwindet dabei knapp 240 Höhenmeter. Das System ist dabei für alle Sportler gleich: Rund um die Uhr können diese am Starthäuschen eintreffen und loslegen. Eine vor Ort mit den eigenen Daten versehene Karte wird in die Anlage gesteckt und dort mit der aktuellen Uhrzeit auf die Sekunde genau gestempelt. Nun ist Eile geboten, schließlich ist das Stempeln der Karte der individuelle Startschuss. Am Ziel erfolgt die gleiche Stempelprozedur und die Differenz der beiden Zeiten ergibt die Fahrzeit, welche dann von Helfern des betreuenden RSC Eifelland Mayen innerhalb von ein bis zwei Wochen ins Internet eingetragen wird.
