This pavement marker is situated on the north side of Stratford High Street (A11), on the bridge which takes the road over the tracks of the Jubilee Line. It is one of three surviving paving slab markers of similar design placed by Newham Borough Council. It is thought to date from 1984.
The slab is set at an angle into the pavement to match the alignment of the meridian. At the centre of a horizontal line is the 1980s logo of Newham Council, which coincidentally looks like it might be an 'N' for a north compass bearing. Curved lines of lettering above and below the horizontal line read GREENWICH MERIDIAN.
