On the front of the former railway station (today the Museum of the City of Skopje) a simple clock is showing 5:17 all the time. At that time of the day on 26th July 1963 a heavy earthquake occurred, causing the clock to stop and the building was severly damaged. More than 1,000 people died during this earthquake. 20 of them were in a train that was just entering the station. To always remember that catastrophe, the clock was never repaired and is still deplaying the time of the earthquake.
Apart from that it is quite a simple clock which only consists of two metal hands. The hours are indicated with simple metal stripes. This building was completed on December 1, 1940.
