Lychgate at the south entrance to St Andrew's churchyard, Great Rollright. Early 20th-century memorial to Ellen Harriette Rendall, wife of Henry Rendall (Rector 1856-1893). It is inscribed with the names of the nine Rendall sons who had the lychgate built in her memory. The Rendalls’ only daughter, who died in infancy, is buried just inside on the right, close to the family tomb.
An inscription inside the lychgate reads:
THIS LYCHGATE WAS PLACED HERE TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF ELLEN HARRIETTE RENDALL
BY HER NINE SONS AND SOME DEVOTED FRIENDS. FOR SOME 38 YEARS AS WIFE OF HENRY RENDALL, RECTOR
SHE SHARED THE JOYS AND SORROWS AND WON THE LOVE OF ALL. SHE FELL ASLEEP IN CHRIST 6. JULY 1905
