It was to be a Sunday fishery like any other, this May 24th. Instead of shoeing a pole, Hervé Chauveau drew an XXL size predator from the water.

Instead, the Choletais go there to contemplate the wildlife or water ski. Not really for catching a catfish "about three feet tall and weighing 20-25 kg." Yet this is what Hervé Chauveau got out of the water on Sunday May 24 at the Noues pond, south-east of Cholet (Maine-et-Loire).

The fish was released
“At 3 pm, a fish bites while I was fishing for perch with a lure,” says the resident of Vezins. The "beast," as he puts it, dragged her for "three hours" before he could pull it out of the water. "I was on an inflatable boat, like a buoy. I let him get tired, ”explains Hervé.

Ce devait être une pêche du dimanche comme les autres, ce 24 mai. Au lieu de ferrer une perche, Hervé Chauveau a tiré de l’eau un carnassier taille XXL.

Les Choletais s’y rendent plutôt pour contempler la faune ou faire du ski nautique. Pas vraiment pour pêcher un silure « d’un mètre soixante environ et de 20-25 kg ». C’est pourtant ce qu’a sorti de l’eau Hervé Chauveau, ce dimanche 24 mai, à l’étang des Noues, au sud-est de Cholet (Maine-et-Loire).

Le poisson a été relâché
« À 15 h, un poisson mord alors que je pêchais la perche au leurre », raconte l’habitant de Vezins. La « bête », comme il dit, l’a traîné pendant « trois heures » avant qu’il puisse la sortir de l’eau. « J’étais sur un bateau gonflable, comme une bouée. Je l’ai laissé se fatiguer », explique Hervé.
