Stob Coire Sgreamhach, the peak of the dreadful corrie, is a 3497 foot, 1072 metre high mountain to the south of Glen Coe in the west highlands of Scotland.

The mountain was promoted to Munro status (mountain of over 3000 feet) in 1990 and is the eastern outlier of Bidean nam Bian, the highest mountain in Glen Coe.

The mountain summit is unseen from the A82 road in Glen Coe to the north, it being hidden by the Three Sisters of Glen Coe, the three rocky buttresses that protrude into the south side of the glen. The summit is actually the continuation of the ridge from Beinn Fhada, the most easterly of the sisters. The summit is a rocky pile with views towards Ben Nevis to the north.

STEEPNESS: Very steep from the Lost Valley up to the col between the mountain and the Bidean. From the col eastwards its a sharp climb, weaving between the boulders to the summit.

TERRAIN: A good path for the most part through the Lost Valley, then punishing scree for the climb up to the col, before a faint path up among the rocky terrain of the final climb.

ACCESSIBILITY: The starting point is almost exclusively from one of two large lay-bys on the A82 to the north, where the summit is just under two miles away. The route throgh the Lost Valley leads to the col to the west of the summit.

NAVIGATION: From the A82, the path drops down to the River Coe, where a footbridge crosses the gorge, then climbs up to the Coire Gabhail, better known as the Lost Valley, a hidden meadow between the most easterly sister of Beinn Fhada, and the central one, Geàrr Aonach. This was where the MacDonald Clan used to hide their cattle back in Jacobite times. From the end of the valley, it is a stiff climb up to the lowest point of the ridge ahead, and then a winding route eastwards up to the summit.

DANGER: Care is needed on the steeper parts, especially on the last few yards up to the col through a narrow groove in the rock where hands need to be used. Care is also needed on the rocky summit area by following the faint path which zig-zags its way up to the top.

Altitude in Feet: 3497
