The fire tower, 39 meters high, painted white, is the upstream element of two alignments:
one with the Sainte-Marine / Combrit lighthouse on the right bank,
the other with le feu du Coq on the left bank.
A caretaker's house is across the road.
The name of the lighthouse comes from a stone pyramid, used in alignment with a rooster-shaped rock, which served to mark the mouth of the Odet.
On December 15, 1848, the first lighthouse of the Pyramid was completed and lit2. It is a turret which then measures 9 m high and occupies the circular space at the end of the first alley leading to the current fire.
In 1887, an improvement of the marking of entry into the Odet with alignment was decided under the direction of the chief engineer Louis Plantier. The Combrit lighthouse is built, and the Pyramid lighthouse is moved and raised to 38 meters to serve two alignments at the same time2. It is made of Breton leucogranite, an easily shapeable rock. It was completed and lit on May 15, 1887.
On August 10, 1944, the lighthouse was beheaded halfway up by the Germans. It will be rebuilt identically and relighted in 1950, with a blackout light every 12 seconds.
