These megalithic alignments contemporary with the alignments of Carnac attest that this peninsula has been inhabited for millennia.
The alignments have been classified as historical monuments since June 8, 1883.
It was not until 1928 that the Lagatjar alignments were restored. The alignments nowadays only include 65 menhirs extending over more than 200 m, while a census in 1793 counted 700 according to the Book of Antiquities of Finistère. The Lagatjar alignment is made up of three rows of menhirs. The whole draws a line oriented N 35 ° E and S 35 ° W, from which start, at right angles, two parallel lines. This orientation would suggest an astronomical character (like many old alignments) according to Georges-Gustave Toudouze who associates it with the constellation of the Pleiades. This is called in Breton ar yar (the hen), hence perhaps the toponymy of the locality of Lagad-yar (the hen's eye).
