Lüssem ist ein Ortsteil der Stadt Zülpich im Kreis Euskirchen. Das Dorf umfasst nur wenige Häuser und ist von Fachwerkhäusern und Bauernhöfen geprägt. Sehenswert ist die relativ große Kapelle, umgeben von einem Friedhof. Früher stand hier eine Wasserburg, die inzwischen aber fast vollständig zerstört ist.

Am Ortseingang aus Richtung Norden steht an der Durchgangsstraße ein kunstvolles Willkommensschild: Auf einer Betonstele ist eine aus glasierten Keramikfliesen gefertigte Skulptur angebracht. Sie zeigt in stark abstrahierter Form die Kapelle des Dorfes, die sich direkt hinter dem Kunstwerk befindet. An der Stele darunter wurde der Schriftzug "WILLKOMMEN IN LÜSSEM" aus dem selben Material angebracht.

Gestaltet und gestiftet wurde das kunstvolle Willkommensschild im April 2014 von den ortsansässigen Künstlern Marie Luise und Werner Dix. Eine Plakette an der Seite der Betonstele informiert darüber.

Lüssem is a district of the city of Zülpich in the municipality of Euskirchen. The village has only a few houses and is characterized by half-timbered houses and farms. The relatively large chapel, surrounded by a cemetery, is worth seeing. A moated castle used to stand here, which has been almost completely destroyed by now.

At the entrance to the village from the north, there is an artistic welcome sign on the thoroughfare: A sculpture made of glazed ceramic tiles is attached to a concrete stele. In a highly abstracted form, it shows the village chapel, which is located directly behind the work of art. The writing "WILLKOMMEN IN LÜSSEM" (meaning "Welcome to Lüssem") made of the same material was attached to the stele underneath.

The artistic welcome sign was designed and donated in April 2014 by the local artists Marie Luise and Werner Dix. A plaque on the side of the concrete stele provides information about this.
