António José Nunes da Glória, who was born in the nearby town of Portimão in 1842 and died in Bensafrim in 1919. He was the local priest between 1882 and 1916 and also an archaeologist and an artist.
The memorial was created by the artist Tolentino Abegoaria and inaugurated on the 28th October 2001 by the president of
the municipality of Lagos, José Valentim Rosado.
