At this border crossing, a few miles north of Costilla, New Mexico Highway 522 becomes Colorado Highway 159. A permanent sign welcomes us to Colorado, and a temporary electronic sign reminds visitors that face coverings are required in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are no facilities at this lonely desert crossing, but there is a New Mexico historical marker a bit south of the border.
