The guided busway runs along a former railway line between Leigh and Ellenbrook and forms part of the Leigh to Manchester Bus Rapid Transport route.
Former railway lines are often converted to cycling and walking routes. In this case the idea has been taken a stage further.
The buses use the concrete guided bus lane, but next to it, separated by a fence is a paved path for both cyclists and walkers.
At this point you're on the edge of a rural area, close to Tyldesley Cemetery, with Ellenbrook 2.2km to the east, and Leigh 5.3km to the west.
