The Olympic emblem has been applied to the Goffert Stadium in Nijmegen above one of the entrances, the Hazenkamptunnel in the north. Why this was done is not known. The Goffert Stadium was never an Olympic stadium ... The rings had been present since the construction of the stadium in 1939. The stadium's architect, technical draftsman of the municipal works department D. Monshouwer, had already planned the rings during the design in 1938. Maybe the design is based on the Olympic stadium of Amsterdam? Unfortunately, the archive is silent about the rings, so we'll probably never know.
