The World War I Memorial sits in front of the town hall, which was erected in 1896. Little or no information can be found on the memorial. It was erected by George H. Sibley, a native of Auburn

The memorial is mainly granite with presumably a bronze insert of a WWI soldier holding his rifle. The memorial is topped by an eagle with wings spread.

The front has the following inscribed:

PRO PATRIA
Erected by
George H Sibley
a native of Auburn
as a tribute to the soldiers
who fought in the World War
1917 - 1918

On the both sides and rear list alphabetically those from Auburn who served. A few mentioned

Benoit, Harold J.
Fogwell Robert
Laroose, Ernest G.
Thayer Harold

Personally I find this memorial quite pleasing aesthetically
