As one would expect in such a splendid building the marble font fits in nicely. It is located in the nave of the cathedral at the west end. Some photos show it with a lid but that was absent on the occasion of my visit.

The dome is accessible on three levels: The Whispering Gallery, the Stone Gallery and the Golden Gallery. The St Paul's website has an article about the dome that advises:

At the west end of the North Transept is the large marble font of St Paul's Cathedral. It was carved in 1726-1727 at a cost of £350 by Francis Bird - the stonemason who was responsible, among other things, for the huge sculpture which adorns the pediment outside the west end of the Cathedral: the Conversion of St Paul. It is carved in blue-veined Italian marble, which has a yellowish tint. The form, with its deeply scooped gadroons, is unusual and more closely resembles grand items of table silver than a font.

Note:

To sight-see St Paul's Cathedral an entrance fee is payable. Currently (November 2020) this are £17 for an adult, £7.20 for a child and £15 for a concession (see here). It should also be noted that, during Covid-19 restrictions, that an entry time-slot should also be booked.
