The slabs are about 18" square by 6" thick. Mr. Sharp's inscription reads "J.H. Sharp", with a reversed "J", along with "div war v". Mrs. Sharp's simply reads "Ms. Sharp" and "Wife". A modern, government-issued headstone for Mr. Sharp sits atop the two, and it reads:

Joseph H. Sharp
Pvt Co H 4 Texas Cav
Confederate States Army
Oct. 18 1845 Jan 1 1922

According to Findagrave (see below), he enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861 while still almost a boy, and served as a captain in Hood's Brigade. He was wounded in the left leg at the Battle of Mansfield in Louisiana in 1864.

Following the link to Mrs. Sharp, we find that she was Ophelia Alice (Evans) Sharp, born in Jefferson County, AL on 9/1/1849. She died in Potter County, near Amarillo, on 2/5/1917.
