The cultural assistant, Jacqueline Savary, explains: “While retaining the activities linked to the village or the medieval castle, the municipality has taken the initiative to hire a seasonal guide, Paul Lemaignen, to be able to organize three visits per day. of the whole castle, including the ascent of the keep and the visit of the two exhibitions which will be set up in the clock tower. "

Paul Lemaignen is a history student, in the fourth year of his master's degree, at the University of Caen. He is vice-president of the Association for the Protection of the Heritage of Huberville and is a lecturer in the Land of Art and History, the Clos du Cotentin.

"The Land of Art and History is always keen to make room for young people and beginners," said Julien Deshayes, organizer of Clos du Cotentin. Paul is a top notch speaker and his love and devotion to heritage makes him an excellent recruit. The Cotentin tourist office has agreed to make it available for the whole summer. "

Guided tours have already started in the canton, temporary exhibitions will be in place from the beginning of July, theatrical night visits are scheduled in July and August and guided tours of the castle, without prior reservation, start on July 8 and will take place until the end of August (except during Saint Anne's Day), Monday to Friday, at 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm and Monday mornings, at 10:30 am Visits to the keep and the tower of the clock involve the climb of steep stairs.

Durant tout l’été, à partir du 8 juillet 2019, un étudiant en histoire assurera des visites très complètes du château, ascension du donjon comprise.
L’été est une période de renouveau et d’activités diverses à Bricquebec-en-Cotentin. La municipalité a décidé de mettre en valeur le vieux château et d’y multiplier les visites. L’adjointe à la culture, Jacqueline Savary, explique : « Tout en conservant les activités liées au bourg ou au château médiéval, la municipalité a pris l’initiative d’engager un guide saisonnier, Paul Lemaignen, pour pouvoir organiser trois visites par jour de l’ensemble du château, y compris l’ascension du donjon et la visite des deux expositions qui seront mises en place dans la tour de l’horloge. »

Paul Lemaignen est étudiant en histoire, en quatrième année de master, à l’université de Caen. Il est vice-président de l’association de Sauvegarde du patrimoine d’Huberville et est conférencier du Pays d’art et d’histoire, le Clos du Cotentin.

« Le Pays d’art et d’histoire est toujours soucieux de faire une place aux jeunes et aux débutants, a souligné Julien Deshayes, animateur du Clos du Cotentin. Paul est un conférencier de premier ordre et son amour et sa dévotion pour le patrimoine en fait une excellente recrue. L’office du tourisme du Cotentin a accepté de le mettre à disposition pour tout l’été. »

Les visites guidées ont déjà commencé dans le canton, les expositions temporaires seront en place dès le début de juillet, les visites nocturnes théâtralisées sont programmées en juillet et août et les visites guidées du château, sans réservation préalable, débutent le 8 juillet et auront lieu jusqu’à la fin août (sauf pendant la Sainte Anne), du lundi au vendredi, à 15 h, à 16 h et à 17 h et les lundis matins, à 10 h 30. Les visites du donjon et de la tour de l’horloge impliquent la montée d’escaliers escarpés.
