Coimbra has the 6th oldest university in Europe, founded in 1290. And it has its own radio station, Rádio Universidade de Coimbra, based in the facilities of Associação Académica de Coimbra, by the university core.
It was formally founded in 1986 but its roots go back to the 40's, when a radio project was initiated in the university.
