This home was built between 1923 and 1925 following the design of the architect Fiel Viterbo. It features a beautiful garden which can be visited along with the residential areas of the former owner of the house and the rooms dedicated to his art collection.

Fernando Bissaya Barreto lived here for 50 years. He was a leading character in the Medicine department of the University of Coimbra and an avid art collector.

The collection has works of painters like José Malhoa, Fausto Gonçalves, Eduarda Lapa, Souza Pinto, José de Brito, Maria de Lourdes de Mello e Castro, José Girão, Fausto Sampaio, ou Alberto Sousa, António Gameiro, Túlio Vitorino, Artur Loureiro, Júlio Pina, Simão da Veiga, João Reis and José Contente. Most of these are connected to the Portuguese Naturalism.

There are sculptures and porcelain collections and the decoratif art can ne appreciated indoors and outdoors.
