BO0037 - H77 USGS 1923 Survey Disk - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Found BO0037 low on the South entrance into the Edwards County Courthouse. This benchmark is mounted vertically among the rusticated stone blocks that form the outer facade of the courthouse. It is to the right of the South entrance door when facing the door. It is about 8 feet to the right of the cornerstone and 3 feet or so high from the ground. It is in good condition. The marker appears to be giving the elevation reading, but the stamped numbers are confusing since the numbers appear at different angles and seem to be stamped at different times. The stamped numbers read: 24 10.156 feet, probably meaning the elevation is 2,410.156 feet above sea level. Below the elevation data is the stamp H77, with a date of 1923 stamped below the H77. This marker is in very good condition.
