This Little Free Pantry is the largest, most well stocked community exchange pantry I've come across! The website for this Mt. Olive Little Free Pantry states that the food panty is in the bench by the front door and to just lift up the seat of the bench to access the food in the pantry. Boy Howdy! was that statement true!
This is about a five foot long all-weather bench with a back rest and a seat on top of a large storage box that happens to be chuck full of all kinds of food stuff ... in abundance! If you are looking for a little extra food to help supplement your family during a hard patch, this is a pantry that is well stocked. At the time of posting this waymark, there were dozens of cans of beans, dozens of sealed bags of dried beans and split peas, multiple quart jars of vegetable juice, boxes of breakfast cereal, several bags of rice and a bag of instant potato flakes that were easily in view.
This pantry is a testimony to Luke 6:28, "Give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into you bosom. For with the same measure that ye measure it shall be measured to you again."
To that point of giving in abundance, the concept of these Little Free Panty units is for the community to reach out and offer those in need an offering of food to help their neighbors. The slogan "Give what you can. Take what you need." is often written on these pantry units so people will know it is OK and encouraged to take food out if it will help you or help your family. If you are fortunate to have enough already, you are encouraged to make a donation or offering of canned goods or sealed containers of food to provide for those who do have a need.
